Our trip with Arem Safaris was amazing! We spent 7 days seeing Tarangire, Serengeti, Ngorongoro Crater and Lake Manyara and it could not have been... read more any better. The best part was our guide Godlove. I promise you he is the best guide in Tanzania. He went above and beyond to make sure we had the best experience possible. He is super funny and knows everything and everyone in the area. We saw every single animal we had hoped to see plus many more. The camps we stayed in were awesome. The food was amazing as well as the staff working there. I’ve never seen better hospitality in my life. I had looked at multiple companies while planning this trip and I am so glad I chose Arem Safaris. I truly believe they are the best company in the country.

They were top-notch, held our hand right from the airport until the end, we felt super safe and they were great people to deal with! The prices were very reasonable and I liked how the money stayed local to pay the people who truly deserved it giving us this incredible experience. (Support local!) Highlight of the trip: reaching the top of Uhuru Peak! This would not have been possible without the guidance and support of our phenomenal guides: Dickson and Lazaro from Arem Safaris. My husband and I are almost 50 and the mountain is tough. Dickson had impeccable first aid training so we felt utterly safe (they assessed our health and oxygen levels every morning and night). They were well versed in the knowledge of the mountain, giving us a nightly debrief of what to expect the next day (what to wear/pack, terrain expectations, etc). Lazaro thankfully took my camera and I was pleasantly surprised to find the most unforgettable pictures/videos of our trek (ex. the Barranco wall, and walking the final stretches during sunrise up to the peak). In fact, the whole team of people showed us extreme kindness - encouraging us along the way and meeting us on the mountain afterward to congratulate us. They are the type of people who would give you the shirt off their back (and what I really witnessed is that they behave the same way with each other). Just truly genuine people. Kudos to Adam, our chef, for the amazing food! We didn't know what to expect and were pleasantly surprised with each meal. He really helped us understand the Park and went out of his way to help us find the Big 5a and we saw a lots of other animals. I would highly recommend Arem Safaris.

  14 Days in Tanzania with Arems Safaris, and I would definitely recommend them to others on a mid-price budget.
We did the Machame Route climb to Kilimanjaro (taking an... read more extra day to acclimatize) and our guide, Raymond, and our assistant guides, Rama and Joshua, were truly amazing! I can't say enough good things about them: They kept us alive, kept our spirits up, and were wonderful from start to finish. The food was actually really very good on the mountain--we all loved the soups--and our waiter (James, I believe) was so nice and caring and helpful. In fact all the porters were incredibly nice and I only wish we'd been introduced at the start of the hike so I could have known names/faces early on instead of just at the end. Even on the toughest days of the climb everyone was warm, encouraging, helpful, and kind. Can't say enough good things about them. (Even if you don't go with Arem Safaris, please do your homework, as other tour operators can be very exploitative of the porters.)
As for our five-day safari, we had an amazing time. David was our driver, and he was great at getting us views of the animals without being too intrusive on their lives. He had so much knowledge about all the animals and the environments, I would definitely recommend them. Staying in the Serengeti Wild Camp--where again, the staff was simply amazing: friendly, attentive, helpful--was so much fun, as you could hear the wildlife around your tent at night.
Our guide on Zanzibar Ally was also super nice and knowledgeable and the Dongwe hotel was so relaxing, and again staffed with extremely welcoming, friendly, and helpful people. There's a tailor on site who can make amazing handmade items--dresses, shirts, purses, etc.--lightning fast for very reasonable prices.
We worked almost exclusively with Edna to plan the tour, and he was responsive and made good suggestions as we narrowed down on the itinerary, and he was very patient with my many questions over the months. We're vegetarian, and he was helpful in accommodating our dietary needs, and gave us compensation when others didn't follow his instructions on this point.
In all, I only have good things to say about everyone I came in contact with at Arem safaris.
I would caution that it is a mid price operator: On safari, our box lunches were pretty bare bones and repetitive, and the Lindrin hotel in Moshi is nice, but also probably an adjustment for those used to American hotels. And remember Tanzania is 1 hour ahead of Italy, so responses via email aren't instantaneous. However, the overall value for the price is really good, all of the hotels we stayed at were clean and well staffed, and I wouldn't hesitate to recommend this to anyone with time to spend in Tanzania.

Tips to leave to others is wherever you go for hiking remember to carry enough warm clothes, some snacks drinks and don't stress yourself or strain walk freely with a positive attitude that you can make it.
