Day 8: Lake Manyara National Park to Arusha
Following breakfast, you'll journey to the final destination of your extraordinary safari - Lake Manyara National Park. Known for its untouched beauty, Manyara is famed for its profusion of avian species and iconic tree-climbing lions. The park's striking western escarpment, a feature of the Rift Valley, frames its western boundary, while the eastern side is graced by the shallow, alkaline Lake Manyara.
This expansive lake, subject to seasonal flooding and drying, hosts flocks of flamingos during the rainy season. The park derives its name from the Maasai term 'emanyara', referring to a thorny bush often used for constructing protective enclosures around homesteads (bomas).
The park's vegetation is remarkably varied, ranging from savannah plains to lush evergreen forests. Throughout your exploration, expect to encounter an array of wildlife including giraffes, zebras, wildebeests, buffaloes, elephants, and with luck, lions reclining in the branches.
Following lunch, you'll make your way back to Arusha, arriving in the early evening.
